Flip Out Doncaster Review – Days Out Diaries

Written by our South Yorkshire Days Out Diaries reviewer - Nicole Biney

The location of Flip out is great. Right inside the Frenchgate Centre, so it’s an easy one to combine shopping for the adults with something for the kids and straightforward to find. The wait at reception was a bit longer than preferred but the park is all open plan so the kids could look over the balcony during the wait and see what fun lay ahead.

One disadvantage to this park is that even if you come with the appropriate socks from another trampoline park, they won’t let you wear them and they don’t offer a swap service like other parks, so be prepared to pay out for another pair of socks for everyone at £2 a pair. The obligatory safety video was played before entering the park, which to be fair was a slightly more entertaining version filmed using actual staff members but within a few minutes everyone was heading downstairs to jump to their hearts content for an hour.

There are a couple of foam pits for your little darlings to throw themselves into, a fully padded arena of play... this doesn’t minimise the potential to end up at A&E when little Johnny starts doing triple salchows off the walls, but it does give some comfort in his landing. A lot of the adventure type activities are aimed at children above 1.2m so any smaller children only have the option to bounce on the trampolines and for the real teenies there’s a separate little adventure play area in the cafe... The food prices are as to be expected in this sort of place. Apparently though, according to my chip connoisseur 12-year-old, the chips served are the best chips in the whole world, even though they don’t stock vinegar...

In conclusion, definitely try to get a discounted Planet voucher to save money when visiting, it can work out quite an expensive trip with multiple children in tow. There’s plenty of viewing areas for parents that don’t want to bounce, and the park is well staffed. If you do want to go on the trampolines and you’ve had multiple kids like me, you might want to pop to the shops beforehand and get a pack of Tena lady but otherwise, it’s a great way for the kids to burn some energy and have some basic enjoyment in a safe environment.
