Scone Palace Review - Days Out Diaries

Written by our Tayside & Fife Days Out Diaries reviewer - Laura Stewart

Scone Palace is located near to the centre of Perth, which is a beautiful city located in Scotland. As you drive down the long drive to arrive at the entrance to the palace you can already marvel at the delights it has to offer.

There are extensive grounds where you can stroll around on your visit and find animals such as deer, Angus cows and the large amounts of peacocks. If you’re really lucky you may stumble across their very own white peacock who really is worth a photo or two.Unfortunately as the palace was getting ready for the Halloween festivities the play park and maze where both closed, but there was still plenty to see and do. The children loved trying to pull Arthur’s sword from the stone, posing with the many Halloween monsters and finding different animals and sculptures around the grounds.

On our tour of the extremely lavish palace, it was great to see just how well they cater for everyone. With plenty of leaflets in many different languages and lots of staff around who are more than willing to answer any questions you may have. They really have managed to get lots of information and really give you a glimpse into how the families will have lived within the palace.

After the tour you can visit the wonderful coffee shop for a homemade cake or refreshment, which there was plenty to choose from. There is also a large gift shop and a smaller food and drink shop where I even managed to get ahead on my Christmas shopping. Overall we all enjoyed our visit to Scone palace, I think when the play park and maze are open there would be even more to keep the children entertained for quite a few hours.
