Air Haus Review - Days Out Diaries

Written by our East Midlands Diaries reviewer - Kerry Lowe

In the search for a rainy Sunday activity, we decided to take a family trip to Air Haus at Sheffield. This was our first time visiting Air Haus and the kids were super excited! We’ve always wanted to visit but found the standard entrance price for just 1 hour to be quite pricey (would have cost £40 for our family of 4). Our Planet Radio voucher allowed us all to visit for just £20 – bargain!

Located just off the M1 and almost next door to Meadowhall – it was really easy to find and had ample parking outside. The reception staff were quick to check us in and parents are required to sign a waiver on behalf of the children, and then we received a coloured wristbands, which determine your session start and end time.

Upon entering Air Haus, you are greeted with lots of lockers that are available to hire to keep your belongings safe and secure. Unfortunately we had no change whatsoever so couldn’t use them – but they were reasonably priced with different sized lockers for hire. There’s two seating areas at Air Haus, one right in front of the inflatable park and another balcony area with more seating and a better view of the whole park. We chose to sit upstairs and put all of our belongings together before venturing down to the inflatable park entrance.

A lady was waiting for us to give us all a safety briefing as soon as we walked up to the entrance. Our hands were then stamped to say that we’d understood the briefing and risks involved. We then had a 5 minute wait until our session start time! First impressions of the place were that it was super funky – cool music and lots of neon lighting! The inflatable area is fab! There various different sections including a small toddler (under 5 only) area. Unlike some soft play areas where you tend to find bigger kids taking over… the toddler area at Air Haus seemed really well managed and we saw no bigger kids in there. There’s a reaction button maze section for 2 players, a wipeout section with a spinning stick that knocks people off podiums (fab fun), a ninja run 2 player race section and then the main obstacle section which includes a couple of slides (with ball pool bottoms), an air bag jump and fun jump balls. Once you get onto the main section, you totally understand why it is for age 5 and above only. It’s quite dark and there’s loads of kids (and excitable adults) running and bouncing around. Bobby did get knocked over a few times but it didn’t stop him – in fact he found it hilarious!

The park is very clean and well maintained; and there were three staff members actually manning different areas of the inflatable park the whole time that we were there. The podium/spinning area is actually controlled by a staff member too and is stopped and started to allow people to climb on and off safely. Overall we felt very safe and happy with the main park area.

There’s also a small café at Air Haus which sells refillable soda, tango ice blasts and small snack food options, including lunch packs containing chicken nuggets, chips etc (I think these were £3.50 each). We opted to have just a couple of drinks and a cake each before driving over to Meadowhall for food – but the food we saw looked ok and is reasonably priced.

Overall we found the place fabulous fun! It’s a perfect rainy day option and our kids can’t wait to go back! Still not sure that I’d pay full price for just 1 hours play – but if the voucher appears again I’ll definitely re-visit!
